Web Design Portfolio: Recent Work
International College Counselors
When the folks at International College Counselors came to me, their website was showing signs of age. While the site was performing well (thanks to the behind-the-scenes work of my collaborator on this project, Allie Mims of Komodo Online Marketing) and the company was diligent about constantly updating the site’s content, the front-end was looking like it was from 2009 — because it was. Over the course of the latter half of 2022, I collaborated with Allie and the people at ICC on a top-to-toe redesign of their extensive website, emphasizing colorful gradients, vibrant hero images, tasteful loading animations, and bold, easy-to-read typography.
The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music
The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music was founded in memory of pianist, composer, arranger, scholar, and bon vivant Yvar Emilian Mikhashoff to support contemporary musicians and music organizations. The Trust was nearing an end-date on the hosting arrangement for their ancient website at the end of 2021, and they took the opportunity to completely reinvent their site with yes.I.said. I collaborated with them to build a new website that celebrates the legacy and virtuosic performances of Mikhashoff, featuring dozens of embedded music files, downloadable scores, and streaming/purchase links for a number of recordings.
Bandy Ranch Floral
Bandy Ranch Floral is a family-run, sustainable flower farm based just outside San Diego, California. They provide farm-to-table wholesale flowers, foliage, and bouquets to retail markets and professional floral designers across the United States. They hired yes.I.said to design a new website for the company. The site highlights their variety of products with beautiful photography and drone video footage of BRF’s growing fields. yes.I.said also created a promotional video for the company, expressly for display on the website’s gallery page.
Psychiatric & Psychological Specialties
In dire need of a refresh for their outdated website, Psychiatric & Psychological Specialties of St. Joseph, Michigan reached out to yes.I.said, impressed by the site Dan designed for Depth Counseling (see below). They wanted to transfer all of the content of the old website to a modern format while maintaining their existing branding. The website we created is colorful, responsive, and easily maintained by their staff. PPS also hired Dan to do keyword research and create new, optimized title and meta tags that aligned with the business’ new positions as it expands in Chicago and contends with the evolving needs of its patients as COVID-19 continues to sow uncertainty and change in their lives.
Middle Branch Partners
In 2019, Middle Branch Partners hired yes.I.said to create the website for their new MedTech mergers and acquisitions firm. The founders wanted to differentiate themselves from their competition with streamlined, effective content, and an dark sapphire color theme with matcha accents. A year after the initial site build, we collaborated with Agency Partners to develop more elaborate, optimized content. At the same time, we gave the site a makeover, introducing a video background on the homepage banner, bespoke charts and infographics, and CSS background gradients for increased depth.
Depth Counseling
Established in 2018, Depth Counseling is a growing psychotherapy collective whose practice takes a psychoanalytic approach to mental health problems. Dan created a site with a clean monochromatic color theme in muted cyan, original photography of meditation labyrinths in and around Chicago, and abstract, hand-painted photo treatments and charts. yes.I.said continues to manage the site’s content as the practice has ballooned over the course of the past two years.
Havrilla Designs
Faced with the uncertainties and changes that accompany the ongoing pandemic, award-winning floral designer Adam Havrilla of Havrilla Designs needed to pivot from his event and wedding floral design services toward emphasizing his consulting and education work. We set up his new site to showcase his expertise with galleries, video embeds, and a blog that Adam updates regularly. The on-site branding includes a series of eight original floral illustrations designed by Dan for a more custom, upscale look.
